Welcome to the Computer Lab
Keyboarding Practice Sites
Dear Parents,
In compliance with Maryland State Department of Education plans, Anne Arundel County Public Schools will administer, again this year, Science Maryland State Assessment tests electronically. Parents may wish to encourage their student to practice keyboarding at home.
There are two options available to parents:
- A free website for typing practice http://www.sense-lang.org/typing/
- Anne Arundel County Public Schools has obtained a School-to-Home license with the Unlimited Site and Network Licenses for software. What this means is that our school may offer parents the opportunity to purchases copies of the Sunburst titles that are available in the elementary classroom for $11.60 each (with a minimum school purchase total of 10 copies).
If you are interested, please complete the following order form and return it to your child’s teacher by December 22nd, 2010. Your order will be sent home with your child as soon as we receive it from Sunburst. Please make your check payable to Folger McKinsey Elementary School.
Technology is a tool our children will need to utilize in the future job market. It is the Technology Support Technician job to make sure they have the tools they need to be successful.
Folger McKinsey has a networked computer lab with 30 student stations as well as 1-2 networked computers in every classroom. Computers are an important tool in the education of students at Folger McKinsey.
In alignment with county standards, we strive to integrate technology
and curriculum. Students will work on Math Skills using Understanding
Numeration and Understanding Math, as well as various web sites
including Scott Foresman. Students also enrich their reading units using
web based activities. All Internet activity is monitored by teachers in
the lab and the classrooms.
Students have set computer lab times and many teachers sign up for
additional weekly times. Students work in the computer lab for all
subject areas including Art, Physical Education and Media. The computer
lab is a vital research and productivity tool for all students K through
5.
We look forward to having you volunteer
in our computer lab!
